Comic booking it

Clint was not one to frequent comic shops. In fact, he usually stayed as far away from them as possible--not because, like the other Avengers, he was afraid he might be recognized, but because he was pretty certain he wouldn't be, and that got a little old after a while.

But Coulson had been moping because he couldn't get in to get his Captain America comics for a couple months, and Clint didn't like to see Coulson moping, so he decided to stop by and pick them up for the agent. He'd probably just drop them on his desk when Coulson wasn't around, but at least he knew it would make the man smile.

Clint shrugs. "Dunno. I've never asked."

"Oh. I guess if I meet him I can ask."

"Yeah, do that. And tell me when you do."

"Do you think that I can't?"

"I dunno. I don't think I could."

[mediumdrip]

"Why not? You're his teammate!"

[from_a_distance]

"Yeah, but...I'm not like Thor."

[mediumdrip]

"What do you mean you're not like him? He's a person, isn't he? Even if he's a god, he still looks like a person."

"Yeah, but I'm not...noble, that way."

[mediumdrip]

"What does noble mean? Doesn't it mean good and brave?"

"Yeah, basically."

[mediumdrip]

"I think you're very brave."

[from_a_distance]

He smiles. "Thanks, kiddo."

[mediumdrip]

"And good too, so wouldn't that make you noble too?"

[from_a_distance]

"I don't know about that."

[mediumdrip]

"Well why not?"

[from_a_distance]

"I'm not...as good as you need to be, I think."

[mediumdrip]

"Why not?" Blaine asked, not sure he understood how someone as good as Clint wasn't good enough.

[from_a_distance]

"Well, I'm..." He frowns, not sure how to explain it and not wanting to put his issues on Blaine.

"You gotta be...unselfish and things. I'm not that."

"Yes you are," Blaine says. "You helped me, didn't you?"

"Yeah, but that's not because I'm unselfish."

[mediumdrip]

"Why did you do it then?"

[from_a_distance]

"You needed help," Clint says. "But it didn't cost me anything to give it."

[mediumdrip]

"Yes it did. Now you have to take care of me."

[from_a_distance]

He laughs. "That's not really a hardship, kid."
