Comic booking it

Clint was not one to frequent comic shops. In fact, he usually stayed as far away from them as possible--not because, like the other Avengers, he was afraid he might be recognized, but because he was pretty certain he wouldn't be, and that got a little old after a while.

But Coulson had been moping because he couldn't get in to get his Captain America comics for a couple months, and Clint didn't like to see Coulson moping, so he decided to stop by and pick them up for the agent. He'd probably just drop them on his desk when Coulson wasn't around, but at least he knew it would make the man smile.

"Well...sometimes there's nothing better to say," Clint says thoughtfully.

"So I can say them so long as I don't have anything else to say?"

[from_a_distance]

"How about for now we say you can use them around me, and maybe Coulson and Stark, and we'll leave it at that."

He doesn't want Blaine getting in trouble at school because he forgets to filter himself.

"Umm... I guess? But only when they're really worth it."

[from_a_distance]

"Yeah, of course," Clint agrees quickly.

Blaine just kind of nods as if that makes sense to him and focuses on finishing his Lucky Charms.

Clint nods as well, satisfied, and settles in to finish his breakfast.

Once they're done Blaine moves to take the bowls to the kitchen to clean them.

Clint watches with a smile. "You don't always have to do the clean up, you know."

"I know, but I want to clean up after myself. I can do it so I want to do it."

[from_a_distance]

"Well, I'm not going to stop you," he says, laughing a little and getting up to help.

Blaine smiles up at him. "Do you have your own place too? Or do you just live here?"

[from_a_distance]

"I have my own place, but mostly I live here," Clint says.

He didn't give up his place in Bed-Stuy, but only because he always has somewhere to fall back on.

"So you really like it here?"

[from_a_distance]

"Yeah, it's not so bad. It's...kind of like having a family."

[mediumdrip]

"Don't you have a real family? You talk about your dad, but was he it?"

[from_a_distance]

"Him and my mom and my brother," Clint says, frowning a little.

He doesn't like talking about them, but he does want to be open with Blaine. That's important, he thinks.

"Is your mom still alive?"

[from_a_distance]

"No," Clint says simply, making sure the dishes get put away properly.

[mediumdrip]

"I'm sorry..." Blaine says as he focuses on finishing up.

[from_a_distance]

Clint nods and moves to finish as well. "It was a long time ago."

"How old were you?"

[from_a_distance]

"About your age."

[mediumdrip]

"I'm sorry."

[from_a_distance]

Clint almost brushes it off like he usually does, but then he changes his mind, and just says, "Thanks, kiddo."
