Comic booking it

Clint was not one to frequent comic shops. In fact, he usually stayed as far away from them as possible--not because, like the other Avengers, he was afraid he might be recognized, but because he was pretty certain he wouldn't be, and that got a little old after a while.

But Coulson had been moping because he couldn't get in to get his Captain America comics for a couple months, and Clint didn't like to see Coulson moping, so he decided to stop by and pick them up for the agent. He'd probably just drop them on his desk when Coulson wasn't around, but at least he knew it would make the man smile.

"A lady and an archer," he laughs again, mostly for Natasha's sake. It's been a long time since somebody's called her a lady.

He leans forward again. "Who do you think the archer is?"

He's not surprised Blaine doesn't know him. It's not like anybody's clambering for interviews, and he likes it better that way.

"I don't know. Do you know them too?"

"Yeah, I guess you could say I do."

[mediumdrip]

"I haven't seen him on the news." A pause. "Is the archer a man? A girl can use a bow too, right?"

He smirks. "Nobody can use a bow the way he does."

"Well he'd have to be the best, if he's an Avenger."

[from_a_distance]

"Well, that is what people say."

[mediumdrip]

"Aren't they right?"

[from_a_distance]

"Yeah, they are. But when I say it, it sounds like bragging..."

He's really not used to talking to kids.

"Are you trying to say your an Avenger? Yeah right."

[from_a_distance]

He rolls his eyes. "Yeah, nobody ever believes me."

.... ugh. wrong you're, why do you taunt me so?

"Why would an Avenger be getting Captain America comic books? You'd just know him."

"For a friend, remember?" Clint says with a smile. "And he's...kind of obsessed."

It's cute, really.

"Wouldn't your friends know Captain America too?"

[from_a_distance]

"Yeah, he does know Steve. Like I said, he's obsessed."

[mediumdrip]

"It's a little creepy to read about the guy you know, isn't it? Is your friend a stalker too?"

[from_a_distance]

"No, not really. It's just...he's been a fan for a really long time, you know? And he only just met Steve."

[mediumdrip]

"I guess I might still read if I knew him..."

[from_a_distance]

"I'm sure he'd be flattered to know that," Clint says, getting up to clear away their bowls.

Blaine watches him and yawns. "When is my dad getting back?"

[from_a_distance]

"Probably not until late," Clint says. "Why don't you go ahead and get ready for bed?"

[mediumdrip]

"Okay," Blaine says through another yawn. "Excuse me," he comments as he covers his mouth. He moves from the table to get to his room.

"Don't forget to brush your teeth," Clint calls after him.

Blaine nods and changes into his pjs before going to the bathroom to brush his teeth. Once he's all done he moves to get into bed.

Clint takes a moment to check the house for threats, out of habit more than perceived necessity. He makes his way to Blaine's room just as Blaine is getting into bed.

"So...how do you usually do this? Story? Nightlight?"
