Comic booking it

Clint was not one to frequent comic shops. In fact, he usually stayed as far away from them as possible--not because, like the other Avengers, he was afraid he might be recognized, but because he was pretty certain he wouldn't be, and that got a little old after a while.

But Coulson had been moping because he couldn't get in to get his Captain America comics for a couple months, and Clint didn't like to see Coulson moping, so he decided to stop by and pick them up for the agent. He'd probably just drop them on his desk when Coulson wasn't around, but at least he knew it would make the man smile.

Clint shakes his head, perfectly serious. "Blaine, there is nothing you could tell me that would make me hate you."

"I.... I can't."

[from_a_distance]

"Blaine, I promise. Whatever it is, I won't hate you. And if you tell me, you'll feel better."

[mediumdrip]

Blaine was quiet for a moment. "I think I like boys. The way I'm supposed to like girl." He folds in on himself after he says it, sure that Clint is going to react with anger.

Clint laughs softly in surprise, shaking his head. "Wanna know a secret?" he asks, leaning forward a little.

"Okay..." Blaine said, totally uncertain what the laughter meant. He didn't think this was funny at all.

"So do I," he says in a mock-whisper.

"I guess it's not such a secret. But yeah. That doesn't make you a bad kid, Blaine."

Blaine frowned a bit. "My dad says only perverts like other boys. Are you a pervert?"

Clint frowns as well at that. "No, I'm not, and your dad is wrong about that. Some of the best people I know like other boys."

"Are you sure?"

[from_a_distance]

"Yeah, I'm sure. And you know what else? Even Captain America thinks so."

[mediumdrip]

"How would you know?" Blaine asks. "He doesn't say so in his comics and I haven't heard him talk about it on the tv."

"Well, I'm...kinda friends with him, I guess."

[mediumdrip]

"Nah-ah," Blaine denied. "That would make you a superhero or something."

[from_a_distance]

He shrugs. "Well, not super anything, really."

[mediumdrip]

"So you were lying?"

[from_a_distance]

"No. We are friends."

He thinks. Sometimes. He's still not sure where he fits into all this.

"What do you know about the Avengers?"

[mediumdrip]

"That they killed all the monsters that attacked New York?"

[from_a_distance]

"Do you know who they all are?"

[mediumdrip]

"Umm... Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America..."

[from_a_distance]

He laughs a little. "Yeah. Who else?"

[mediumdrip]

Blaine has to think. "Oh! Thor! And... a lady and an archer?" Though the images of those two were never as clear as the other three, Blaine was pretty sure they were part of the team.

"A lady and an archer," he laughs again, mostly for Natasha's sake. It's been a long time since somebody's called her a lady.

He leans forward again. "Who do you think the archer is?"

He's not surprised Blaine doesn't know him. It's not like anybody's clambering for interviews, and he likes it better that way.

"I don't know. Do you know them too?"

"Yeah, I guess you could say I do."
